Apple On the strength of higher iPod and Macintosh sales, Apple on Wednesday posted a profit of $565 million [EUR 468 million] for its fiscal 2006 first quarter. Picking up from where it left off last year, Apple once again reported the highest revenue and earnings in the company's history. These results compare to revenue of $3.49 billion [EUR 2.89 billion] and a net profit of $295 million [EUR 244 million]. Apple said that international sales accounted for 40 percent of the quarter's revenue. Apple shipped over 1.2 million Macs and more than 14 million iPods during the quarter. This represents a 20 percent growth in Macs and a 207 percent growth in iPods over the year-ago quarter.

Anyone who wants to invest in the future: now is the time. AAPL, IMHO, will sale past 100 later this year, with iPods and "switchers". After "vista", I think Apple will pick up even more steam.

Is it _really_ necessary all those Euro conversions in the title and summary? I mean, we in Europe surely have a good idea of what 500 million dollars mean ;)

Sounds like Apple is getting too rich! Time to file lawsuits and flame them to death on forums just like this.

Big Profits/Money = Threat to open-source.

... for the "Apple is dying!" trollz to come along.

I mean, here OS News is trying to throw a war, but the other side isn't coming.

(Bastards!)

Then again, I guess Apple's 5 straight years of growth and profit are fact/logic enough to stifle even the trollz.
