Zeta PowerDreams did an interview with Bernd Korz, CEO of YellowTAB. The original German version has been translated to English (by an Italian website). Interesting bits: "The LiveCD caught on unbelievably well and worldwide. We have more than 1 million CDs out in the market, thanks to many magazines." And, something that always interests me: "The response and level of publicity is surprisingly good and we have open doors everywhere at hardware manufacturers." That hardware part is crucial for the alternative OS market.

CAN YOU PLEASE SHOOT ME NOW???!!!?? That was the most useless interview I've ever seen. I could acutally feel the pain of the interviewer pulling out his teeth. You'd think Korz would take the time to help market his product, but his 1 line answers makes you think he's in court being sued! They probably shouldn't have even published it, since it was completely worthless, but I think it was at least amusing . . . although I did read the English version, and it might have lost something in the translation.

Well, maybe, just maybe, Bernd actually said a lot more, but the editors only posted the interesting bits. The fact that this is all that got published does not mean it is true. Written/printed != truth.

Or, maybe, just maybe, Bernd Korz is just real(tm), and not media-trained as Bill Gates or part-of-Apple-marketing Steve Jobs.

Ok. I'll grant him that, but if those were the interesting bits, I'd hate to see the boring parts. You're right that written works do not equal truth, but that really only applies to informational material. This interview had no information at all.

I don't buy that. Even a dumbass like myself knows that it's ok to elaborate on answers given on an interview to make it halfway interesting. Korz has no excuse other than he gave a HORRIBLE interview.

It might just be that the interview has been edited to be this short - you never know.

No, not really.
That site (power-dreams.com) seems to be very unprofessional and IMHO the interviewer is not very good.

Actually, the first sentence of the article:

"James Elliot ha tradotto in inglese l'intervista che Bernd Korz ha rilasciato al sito Power Power-Dreams:"

attributes the translation into English to James Elliot, who sounds like a native English speaker...

Thom, as a fellow dutchman, I suspect you might have some German-reading skills. But if not, surely you could have just checked the German version of the interview?

"Was hat es mit den im Internet kursierenden Zeta 1.2 Screenshots auf sich? Ist das die nächste Version?"

"Bernd: Zum Teil."

This isn't Chinese where 1 character can mean a thousand words ;)

I've looked at the LiveCD download page and it seems it is only available in German. Is there english version of the live CD?

The LiveCD is international, you can switch it to English after launch. I don't have a copy here, unfortunately, otherwise I could tell you what to click to get there. FWIW, "Sprache" is German for Language...

Yes the LiveCD is international, however a lot of the programs still have German words sprinkled throughout them in the Menus, etc no matter what language you select. (Mozilla Firefox is an example)

I'm german and read the german version. If it would have been cutted down, the editor would have to loose the quotation style. It seems this is really what Bernd said, and he didn't say much more, at least to some of the questions.

I have the feeling this is kind of a email interview and it was answered in a rush.

However you think about that fact, I think the answers are interesting, as they seem to be just honest. Bernd seemed not to think much about how to answer to his best. See, if this was a typical marketing type of interview, he wouldn't say "we got rid of much garbage" and things alike (I translated myself). Think about Microsoft would say that about their new Windows ;-)
