When you post pointers to Informit articles, you should probably add a standard disclaimer to the effect: "these articles are for people who want a rough idea of how these tasks are done, they should not be construed as tutorial for someone attempting these tasks."

Anyone who wants a real introduction to C++ would benefit from picking up Andy Koenig's intro book.

standard shallow inforit articles that feel like a sameple chapter from a book they want to sell you.

developerWorks are similarly poor as well. Most superficial tutorials seem better aimed at the '90s when English dropouts were more interested in programming computerwhatchamacallits.

Yeah I've noticed latly that some of the developer workds stuff is very... odd.. they have some great content and some really random articles pop up..

I, however, liked the Erlang article. Told me exactly what I wanted to know about Erlang. Aka: it's a nice language, but has some downsides that make me not want to explore it.
