Internet & Networking The KDE team announced a new project to re-synchronize our HTML engine, KHTML, with the WebKit engine. Code named Unity, the project has so far focused on porting the WebKit engine to Qt 4 with minimal changes to the existing code-base. WebKit is a derivative of the KHTML engine by Apple.

To be honest I don't think you're accurate enough: WebKit is an open source project, based on KHTML. But it's not only Apple that uses it (for Safari), but also Nokia is contributing to the codebase as the KDE community.

I did read. And I don't see that our news post contradicts any of these facts.

The part after "Edit:" was meant for me

I thought at first you would have replied to the "old news" comment...which you did not...which made my whole comment... superfluous ;-)

You suggest that it is an Apple-only thingie. And that's not the case.

But don't bother. I don't want to get into a fight about this ;-)

It is very clear on the story that says that Webkit is a DERAVITIVE of khtml. And it was developed by Apple. Nokia came into play much later. I have even written an exclusive article on that, on December.

I'll clear this misunderstanding up. Compare:

I) WebKit is a derivative of the KHTML engine_by Apple.
II) WebKit is a derivative_by Apple of the KHTML engine.

There you go.

No, what the story actually says is that KHTML is by Apple and that WebKit is a derivative of KHTML.
