Mac OS X Users of Apple Computer's Mac OS X Tiger are soon to receive a handout from the Cupertino, Calif-based company - a new software update to the operating system that will offer increased stability and some performance enhancements. Under development since the summer, Mac OS X 10.4.8 Update will represent the eighth such maintenance release issued to users of Tiger since the system made its debut in late April of 2005.

My issues with iTunes is that it takes longer to load with 7.0. The other issue is while an mp3 is playing if I click on one of the menus at the top the music starts to stutter and stays that way until I close iTunes then reopen it.

Have you updated to 7.0.1? I know that i don't get the stuttering anymore unless I start something in the quicktime browser plugin...

Not yet, I didn't know 7.0.1 was out until I read this story. I will upgrade when I get home from work tonight.

iTunes updates aren't typically part of OS updates and FWIW, 7.0.1 was released today.

Still broken. I can reproduce the crash every time by rapidly clicking on three different songs in the same albumb in a row.

is this the only time it crashes (after the update)?
if so, why are you trying to play 3 songs simultaneously?!

Clicking three songs in rapid succession doesn't cause them to play simultaniously, it just cases iTunes to switch from one song to the next very quickly.

It's not the only way to invoke the crash --- iTunes will still crash after playing five or six songs anyway, its just the fastest way to do so.

Yeap.. this is what I hate! if you make frequent XP installs on many machines, you have to wait to get every update via the net (unless you use the Autopatcher).

If you make frequent XP installs on many machines, you should have made a slipstream CD long ago.

Mine sounds pretty loud, if it is iTunes music what has a low volume, try: View > Show Equalizer (they removed the button on iTunes 7 :/ ), choose the "small speakers" preset and play with the preap.

That is the thing I miss the most from my old 12in Power Book. The Power Book had the best laptop speakers I had ever heard, and good volume.
The MacBook speakers are alright, not as good, not a pro model anymore, but they just have no volume.

I doubt Apple will return the Aqua in iTunes7. There's a simple patch you can apply to add the Aqua look http://www.thrica.com/software/aguat/

You find the lower right hand corner where the Burn Disc button is to be too repugnant for your discriminating tastes? You need an EQ Button because the View->Equalizer menu select is too taxing? I can understand that they need a keyboard equivalent but a button is not a lost feature.

Me neither and I rather like the new look. Still, there's always a chance of breakage during an update. Best to take a "carbon copy clone" beforehand.

CMD+2 for Main window

They haven't even used the shortcuts for something else, they've just removed them. Stupid...
