Unfortunately it won't work (or at least not right away). It is compiled for WinCE 5.0 and depends on lots of libraries missing from J720 (which is WinCE 3.0).
Although there are tricks to make some applications written for newer systems working on good old Jornadas, but I doubt it'll work this time.

you can do AWESOME, advanced stuff like 'del', and 'dir', and telnet out. and if you install extra apps, you can ssh and ftp and such. basically nothing.
I was going to load up netbsd on my 720 but i gave it to my dad the other day. i wasn't using it.

I don't think the primary application will be for phones, because as you pointed out, it's a bit useless. Windows CE is Microsoft's all purpose embedded OS, that just happens to be used as a base for Windows Mobile. It'll probablly be usefull on devices that do not have a user accessible user interface.





)... I noticed it does have a command prompt, but I didn't find much it could do.
