This is just a company feeling to comfortable. Intel can see that AMD can't keep up and if everything stays as it is now they will soon have a virtual monopoly. They can increase their profits from the chipset market by denying everybody supporting their new CPUs - Nehalems will be sooner or later mainstream and AMD has nothing in sight that can compete with that.
