Hardware, Embedded Systems Engadget pointed out that USBfever has already begun selling USB 3.0 cables a year ahead of schedule. "Interestingly, the cable's feature list says, 'it is 10 times faster than USB 2.0.' Sure, as long as it's hooked up to a USB 3.0 SuperSpeed host which it won't be until 2010." That seems a bit low-- luring in the uneducated and those who don't read before they buy.

So read. Ask questions. You know, educate oneself before handing over cash. Sheesh..

I'm modding you down for that unacceptable attack on the readership. Let me spell it out for you: you were voted 3 times as off topic (which is true), two positive votes, 1 troll and 1 troll from me because I don't take kindly to being called "a pathetic ... parasite".

You know, I wish you guys would open the ability to see why and by whom someone is voted up or down. Maybe then there'll be some transparency in how people vote and less abuse.

Just a thought I've had for some time.

It would just cause more narrow minded nit-piking. The score you get on an individual post is the not the end of the world (as some seem to think). What we don't want is people *over-reacting* to individual post-scores, trying to name names and generally talking meta. We do welcome feedback, but overall, the mod system works really well. If anything, all the meta-discussion (like Kaiwaii’s paranoia) is the actual problem! ;)

So are probably more than 50% of all posts and most of those aren't modded down. Your own post and mine is also off-topic.

two positive votes, 1 troll and 1 troll from me because I don't take kindly to being called "a pathetic ... parasite".

If you hadn't already modded him down why did you think he was calling you a pathetic parasite?

Yes, stuff goes off-topic, but Kawaii’s post being modded off-topic is not, quote: "F*cking pathetic, people who can't handle a jab going to cry off to the moderation system instead of replying". Can you see how overreacting to the post-score is missing the mark?

Because I’m a editor/moderator and am responsible for doing moderating, as well as trying to enlighten folk when users goes on a "zOMG everybody is out to get me" mod-complaint mission. ;)

But you saw fit to delete the reply to that message which was actually moderated up to 4 by some people on here. Thank you for showing that suppression of peoples opinions is alive and well in the moderators quarters.

I've deleted nothing!? There isn't even any deletion method here. I can move things to -5 and hide them by default and lock them to prevent replies, but there's no delete function! You are literally imagining things Kawaii, as well as upholding an incorrect stance—an assumption—based entirely on paranoia.

I barely moderate at all, I only lock and hide posts that contain personal attacks on people. You can call a piece of technology a piece of crap, but if you call a person a piece of crap, then there's nowhere good that thread can go. I leave people's opinions alone, they are entitled to those.

"Thank you for showing that suppression of peoples opinions is alive and well in the moderators quarters." You are totally, utterly, completely wrong.

I'm locking this thread because the whole thing has gone sour solely because you, Kawaii, decided to make an attack based on [incorrect assumptions] about moderation. We would not be having this argument if you hadn't edited your comment because you thought you were being unfairly moderated.

What? Consumers read before they buy? What parallel universe you living in, nobody does that! </sarcasm>
That aside, one would think that the fact that there won't be any USB 3.0 hosts for another year, at minimum, would clue those with logical minds into the fact that it's not going to be faster than USB 2.0. The cable can only utilize as much bandwidth as the attached devices, and we simply have no USB 3.0 devices out in the wild at present.
Besides, how many general consumers are looking for USB cables online? Most of the people that don't research what they buy are the ones who pop into the local Walmart or whatever and buy a cable. I've noticed that those who shop online generally do more research, though obviously there are exceptions.
At any rate, USB 3.0 cables are useless at the moment though I suppose you could get them if they followed the standard properly and you wanted to future-proof your USB wiring.

This is the real problem with this cable.

Some cheep HDD cases use an A to A cable.
I refuse to buy any that break the standards and have returned goods based on that. My suppliers don't like it but they can't argue if they won't follow the standards.
