Legal European antitrust regulators on Monday published internal e-mails that detail alleged antitrust behavior by Intel. The European Commission Monday published a non-confidential version of its its May 13 decision against Intel, which imposed a fine of $1.45 billion against the chip giant. That decision found that Intel broke EC Treaty antitrust rules (Article 82) by engaging in illegal practices to exclude competitors from the market for x86 processors. The EC action was based on complaints from Intel's chief rival, Advanced Micro Devices.

When Dell and Intel did settle on a name for these discounts, they were called the Dell Meet Competition Program

I'd be inclined to impose $100 million just for inventing that name.

heh. I love the retarded names companies come up with for /everything/.

But from the sounds of it, Intel shouldn't be getting this fine, or at least not one of such a substantial amount. Dell seems to have caused most of this.

I think you are discounting the facts that there are other OEMs besides Dell receiving similar "benefits".

After being found guilty by both the Japanese and Korean trade commissions, this is no surprise to me. I guess this EU judgment is a strike-3 for Intel.

Does anyone here have a link to the official EU press release?

I keep bumping into third party news releases in my search with no official links in sight.

Thanks.
