Multimedia, AV This is kind of a big deal for me. No, this shouldn't be on OSNews, and no, at this particular moment, I really don't care that you're right about that. All our silly stupid pointless discussions about Windows iPhone Galaxies and patents and whatnot - no matter how angry it sometimes makes me, how much energy I spend on it - it all becomes so trivial and meaningless the moment I realise this beautiful world still produces things like this. I'm going to enjoy the sunshine for a moment. And I'm leaving my phone on vibrate in the kitchen.

But I found this

that may be a little more "OSnewseque".

I preferred that to the Apple track, but if you want to go really "OSnewseque" then you really need a link to this:

I don't much care about an off topic post (or whatever everyone that constantly screams about it calls it when you post things like this)... But why this is a big deal to you? I hope I don't sound rude or anything - I just don't get it.

I listened to it, its clever and stylish and whatnot, but it is not my cup of tea. But even if it was (and I could appreciate it more), what about it makes it a big deal to you?

You've been here a long time, I thought Thom's fetishes would be obvious by now. Next up, we'll have a front page post about a Gilmore Girls reunion or some such.

Hah... Yeah, I knew about the Gilmore Girls thing - but this one had me perplexed. He's a Fiona Apple fan or something?

"Fan" is not nearly the word for it. I'm a fan, I love her music and consider her an inspiration on many levels.

Thom worships her like a Goddess, and would probably take a bullet for her. At least, that's the impression he's given on this website over the past several years, I don't know him personally.

Look at it this way. If Fiona Apple was some type of religion, then Thom would be her mujahideen.

The fact that this used to be a vaguely useful tech news site, and now it seems to be Thom's sloppily-written personal blog, maybe?

I'm about [ ] this close to unsubscribing myself.

Eugenia had these occasional posts as well - more often than I do, actually. I think you may need to re-evaluate your perceptions.

OS stuff, programming, Hardware, Applications and a even a general interest section for post like this. You really never hear osnews readers comments on ordinary stuff.

I personally don't mind posts like these.
And if I were to choose between Thom not writing at all for OSNews and Thom writing for OSNews, while from time to time inserting such posts I'd definitely choose the second one.

Also, they add a nice little human touch to an otherwise very technical/legal oriented atmosphere. I like that.

What amazes me is that people will shout "I'm leaving OSNews for Engadget/Gawker/Techdirt/whatever because of the posting style/commenters/inaccuracies" and when you see that person's avatar on one of those sites, they are behaving even worse than they did here. Sometimes, even worse than the supposed reason they left here.

Good riddance.
