having owned a Pocket PC pda for several years now I have to say I've never heard of Resco. So popped over to their site and had a look. err... nothing special and nothing you can't get anywhere else more cheaply and often for free.
oooh (the media pack) a photo viewer, a file explorer, a keyboard, a sound recorder... my 5 year old HP jornada had all those things pre-installed. why would I need anything else?
what's the fuss about?
She prob. got those apps for free if see made an article about them
You are right what is the deal here..the are tons of apps for the pocketpc, zaurus and the palm who can do the same or more for free..
must be a slow week..
i think that if you didnt tried those apps you cant argue with her....
ive been using pocket pcs and believe me, the resco suite of apps kick ass, they are simple and powerfull and give you many things that the pocket pc default os does not allow.
specially the resco file explorer and the resco picture viewer are great apps.
give them a try and then start complaining.....
I have them running on my Palm Treo 650 and Tungsten.
Like i said before there is really nothing special about them.
I rather use:
MegaCom and Grxview Pro.
No forthe Zaurus there are lots of application including the Gimp and gqview if you use the pdaxrom. The are free.
Its fine that Eug. wants to share her exprience since she bought a pocketpc but i think osnews is not the channel for that.
I was *never* able to get a greek keyboard by changing my locale (I have my locale set to greece but no gr keyboard with my stock install stuff). I use interkey which allows me more than 2 language keyboards at a time.
I wish Decuma would make a greek recognizer
I've been using Resco products for as long as I've been using PocketPCs. My first PPC was a Toshiba E750 which I bought in 2002. More recently I've got hold of a Dell x50v and apart from an inital RMA (which I'm still in the middle of) I think Resco products are great. In particular their Explorer, Photo Viewer and Registry Editor have made my PDA life a touch easier.
If you buy a resco product, make sure you save the download of the current version in a safe place. They don't offer any old versions for download.
I did enjoy the Resco file explorer while I was able to use it.
I have and old(er) Viewsonic V35 (yes, Viewsonic used to be in the PDA business) that's lying around. With a headset and some of these apps, it could really revitalize my PDA...
Great article though. I was wondering if the author worked for Resco till I found out it's Eugenia!
"Resco has become synonymous with high-quality utitilies"

That's why because you use the PalmOS versions. If you read carefully my article you will see that the PalmOS versions have NOTHING TO DO with the PPC versions. The PPC versions ROCK, the PalmOS ones, not so much.
talking about ppc versions.. not palm os... if you read my post carefully you will notice that....
the pocket pc versions are the ones i can talk about
