bad timing ?

or complete co-incidence.
pity it did not get out a day or two before kde 3.4

Huh ?

I don't see anything about XFCE 4.2.1 neither on the official web site, nor on the user maling list. What's that pseudo-announce ?

Huh ? (bis)

Addedum to my previous comment : Even the web page linked in the new only contains XFCE 4.2.0 (and yes, it's not a old, cached version). It does not link to the official announce.

Well, it's on SourceForge. I couldn't find an annoucement or changelog, however.

The graphical installers have been updated to the latest release. I'm thinking about installing it on my CentOS desktop.

In short, OSnews didn't learn anything from the KDE story earlier.

Official Announcement
by Anonymous on Wed 16th Mar 2005 20:54 UTC

Perhaps you can wait for one before posting it as news, then at the least I'll have something to read about.

Or better yet...

...perhaps you can install it and do a review, if you really wait wait for it to be announced.

Changelog?

if anyone has a changelog... post it ;) I'm not sure if it's included in the source.

It's probably better to think of this and the KDE post as 'Breaking News' articles (Might be worth putting that in the title).

But hey, let's play the game your way shall we. In your world sometime in June we'll have CNN produce their first report on the 'War in Iraq'...can't wait.

got it...

Just installed it from RPM's. Seems stable, no problems yet. I can't really see anything different. Another fine release from XFCE.org

What? Are you saying that the war in Iraq hasn't been anounced yet? And I bet CNN's reporters would actually do some research and make a real story out of it even if it wasn't official, instead of just saying "there's a war in Iraq, go and see for yourself."

My point was, as there has been no official announcement, if this is to be posted as news, then get some info and write about it or just wait for the official announcement. I am interested in this, but what has been posted as news has no content and I don't want to rush to download and install it to find out what's new.

Any Changelog 4.2 -> 4.2.1 available?
