Conversations What's with the frequent requests for a "torrent link, please", it seems like there's one on every story even when the story has nothing to do with a particular software package? Is this some new annoying trend I'm unaware of?

Some kiddie with to much time on his hands. I already reported one of his aliasses to Thom, but he keeps creating new ones as soon as the old one's banned.

Well at least his comments are being bombed to -5 oblivion pretty fast.

I'm guessing that said poster, somehow, has got the impression that OSNews is a 'warez' site.

Any account I find like that is immediately suspended. Also, I'm going to set something up in v4 code that to compare IP to suspended accounts, and if its suspicious, it won't allow you to register a new account.

Just to note, I've seen bad things happen in the past on other sites because someone's IP was, by pure chance, close to that used by some other author.

I assume there'll be a "long way" around this automatic block, just in case?

Definitely. I'm not going to be crazy about it. Certainly better to suspend more than to block legitimate registrations.
