Conversations ... With all the whining over moderation. You all know how moderation works on this site, live with it. If you get modded-down, be man enough to accept it. If anyone actually is interested in reading what you have written, it is trivial in v4 to expand your comment anyway.

Adam has been doing great work on trying to fix the moderation feature, but endless bitching about people abusing the system doesn't help anyone.

These are *the accepted reasons* for modding somebody down:

"Yes, this comment includes personal attacks/offensive language
Yes, this comment is off-topic
Yes, this comment is spam or includes advertisements"

Modding a post down because you disagree is *not* a reason allowed by the rules of this forum. In fact it is an abuse and, until it happens, I'll complain till Kingdom Come.

I think you should be allowed to mod someone down for any reason once they've scored +3 or more, as a compromise. I also think that "Off-topic, offensive language or spam." is short enough to put in the alert box that appears when you click to mod someone down. I don't think most people worry that "I disagree" doesn't count.

One technical request - I usually view messages that have been modded down, but often find afterwards that I want to hide them again. For that matter it would be nice to be able to hide any message/thread. This may well be asking too much.
