Don't get me wrong, I love to argue about operating systems as much as the next guy, but saying the same thing over and over gets kinda boring after awhile if no new ground is really covered. I have gotten into some fantastic conversations in the comment section of this site, and learned alot from other people. Those kinds of comments sections are much more enjoyable then the flamey kind.
So anyways, all I'm saying is it may be worth instituting a policy that "guaranteed to turn the comments section into a roiling mass of bickering" should be one of the things taken into consideration when choosing whether or not to post someth

Err, I don't know about you but the discussion on that article remained fairly decent. It was no flamewar at all, despite a few odds and ends here and here. Overall, a very decent thread with varying viewpoints, interesting new insights, and no namecalling.
I don't see the problem. I'm happy with the discussion. Apart from that, the fact that some article might erupt controversy is not a reason not to post it. If that were a reason, this'd be one boring website.
Gotta agree with Thom. Is something truly flamebait if it doesn't actually bait flames?
The article was clearly one guy's opinion that stemmed from a more heated conversation, but ultimately, we publish these kinds of things all the time, and it seems to have brought about legit discussion, which is what we are aiming for.
