Mandriva, Mandrake, Lycoris Mandriva subsidiary Edge-IT has been selected to participate in an EU-backed project that aims to create a next-generation computing approach known as the 'Social Semantic Desktop'. The goal is to transform the PC into a collaborative environment that supports both personal computing and information sharing via social and organizational channels.

Madriva was chosen solely because it is the prominent European Linux Company. Why else would they chose a company that just came out of bankruptcy and is still trying to get it together especially when there are Linux companies much better equipped to develop this type of solution most notably RedHat and Suse. Nothing wrong with keeping business local but don’t try and tell me that Mandriva was the best choice because its somehow different then other major Linux companies.
