I can't see Beagle being that much better than Spotlight. Not to say that it's that much worse.

Does Spotlight take forever to build an initial index too?

I prefer Spotlights UI also. Again, not to say Beagle's is ugly. Like all GTK+ UI's I've encountered, it's just average.

I've been using Beagle a lot more since hacking SLED's computer menu into Ubuntu, using it that way is fairly nice..
