Last week we had a news item about a T9-like technology for PalmOS and PocketPC that its version 1.0 was released for free. Xrgomics, the company behind TenGO, sent us the new full version of the software, v2.0, plus TenGO Thumb for a quick review. Check it out!

Thats a good idea, and I am working on something similar, just need to test it.
I think that instead of forcing an old interface where it does not belong, the interface should be designed with usage in mind.
Example: no matter how cool it looks, there should not be a Qwerty keyboard on a PDA, palm-sized device, Origami for primary input. It is insane to think that a kb layout that was designed for maximum inefficiency is helpful. tengo does not bother much, because it is not really a qwerty layout. I think its a great way to get people to not rely on a qwerty.
Fitaly is good.
a split thumb qwerty keyboard is bad. if it was not qwerty, but had a layout designed for being split w/ 2 thumbs, thatll be different.
