Yes you are correct. I misread my /proc/cpuinfo on ARM based appliance where it says

CPU architecture: 5TE/MIPS

But when I do a

uname -a
Linux sxxx 2.6.16 #1 PREEMPT Thu Jun 8 23:38:13 PDT 2006 armv5tel unknown unknown GNU/Linux
