According to this guide my laptop's Radeon 9000 Mobility card is a "rv250/M9" card. It doesn't work with Compiz/Beryl/composite. I tried 3 different distros, they can't handle the card for a 3D accelerated desktop, and it kinda bugs me.
Try the .debs(assumeing you have Debian or are willing to change) by Shame.These work!
He is setting up repository's with the most up to date and tweaked beryl debs.I believe everyone over at Sidux.com has not had a complaint...it just works.
