Linspire "Linspire announced plans to standardize software installation across Linux distributions by expanding its popular CNR digital download and software management service to support several of the most popular desktop Linux distributions in 2007. this looks much better than the package manager (at least the idea...haven't actually tried this, sorry) but it still looks like a centralized system -you need to use their server. Most commercial developers would like to host their software on the server of their choice.
