E16 version 0.16.8.7 and epplets version 0.10 are now available for
download. "Add option to show windows on all desks in focus list. The CM now renders to the composite overlay window. Fix various updates when external background changes." Many more fixes are in the changelog.

I do understand the gripes of E17 being in development for quite sometime with no official release but I have to say the current SVN build is very stable and beautiful.
I have E17 set up with a debian 'etch' minimal install on a 7-year old PowerMacG4 733MHz. And man this baby flies with E17! I've never had this much fun using a window manager before. It hands down beats KDE and GNOME (performance wise) in a hardware such as this.
The whole E17 environment seems to have an Apple like feel to it. Each and every part of the system is beautifully designed and well thought out.
Overall, it breathes new life into this PowerMac and I'm one happy camper. I encourage all to give this a try.
