Apple A bug in Apple's Safari leaves it vulnerable to crashing from an animated image. All webkit apps are vulnerable, even rss readers. This comes after Internet Explorer and Firefox had vulnerabilities due to pictures. Why is it that images cause browsers so many problems?

... but I've been experiencing other problems with safari. It freezes along with everything else. The finder is still somewhat working, BUT when I try to start another program... it wont.

I get that as well, as far as I can tell it's lookupd getting hosed and it causes all manner of different problems.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting your network connection (from the menu bar), that works for me. The disconnect / reconnect seems to force lookupd to crash, the system automatically restarts it and then it's fine.

Image of doom did nothing until I pressed reload, there was a delay and then...
