SUSE had 1 CD install since a long time.
Please check
http://en.opensuse.org/1_CD_install and
http://en.opensuse.org/SUPER
However, they were varient of SUSE and not the mainstream SUSE release.
This will be the first time they will promote the single CD install as part of mainstream SUSE release.

Over the time we have seen single CD distro gainig on popularity. For instance Ubuntu nad PCLinuxOS are both single CD and are at the top spots on Distrowatch.
Lets welcome SUSE to the group.
