Gentoo "Over the past few days, I discovered that the Gentoo Foundation's charter is in the process of being revoked by the state of New Mexico, apparently due to regular paperwork not being filed by the trustees. What this means is that the Gentoo Foundation is currently hanging for its life by a string, and at any day could cease to exist as an entity. That is the very bad news. The good news is that I was able to talk to Grant Goodyear (trustee) this morning on the phone, and I have confirmed that Grant had received my email about the revocation issue that I sent 2 days ago and that he will be resolving this critical issue in the next couple of days by filing the appropriate paperwork with the state of New Mexico, and this paperwork will also remove me as President of the Foundation."

till now i never got off topic because you don't understand that there is no ideological problem for administration to discuss!
Who cares about politics, GNU, software freedoms and such rants when the main problem is that the action's by trustees affect in every way the developers and they are the guys who keep project up and running.
It's simple... if you cannot locate the problems and understand them how will you fix the foundation?

but now you want to discuss what we call bleeding edge.. well that is offtopic for sure.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bleeding_edge
"technology that is so new (and thus, presumably, not perfected) that the user is required to risk reductions in stability and productivity in order to use it"

So minor releases are NOT bleeding edge cause they are most of them bug fixes and small changes.

Also in the rest of you paragraph you confuse developers with users and you make new terms (binary are "static"? major distros already working and contributing back to kde or you want me to add the patches and communicate with upstream? im the user! that is developer's work)

That's from me...
