The generally accepted best practice is that a derivative work is not created when statically linking GPL software to non-GPL software. However there is no clear agreement within the FOSS community regarding dynamically linking of GPL software to non-GPL software.


I thought it was the reverse? Dynamic linking is not a derivative work, but static linking is. isn't it?
