Amiga & AROS AmigaOS 4.0 for classic Amigas will go on sale November 30th (yes, this year). From the AmigaWorld.net news page: "On November 30 AmigaOS4 will ship for Classic Amigas. Hyperion Entertainment VOF made the announcement at the AmiWest banquet. The following will be included in the package: CD-ROM with AmigaOS4, one floppy disk to boot your Amiga (no pre-installed OS will be needed), and a manual."

Aside from enthusiasts wanting a trip down memory lane, I really don't get the hype about Amiga.

Yes, it was way ahead of it's time way back when, but how can it possibly be taken seriously now?

In a world where PC hardware is as cheap as chips (excuse the pun) and Operating systems can be had for free, where could it possibly fit in?

The official website for AmigaOS4.0 has a strapline "Remember when computing was fun?"

Erm, excuse me Hyperion, we have Linux, an operating system that anyone can tinker with to thier hearts content. We have an overwhelming choice of hardware. We have the WWW. We have some of the most advanced and exciting games ever created. In case you hadn't noticed, computing is unbelievably fun!

So I guess, "enthusiasts only need apply"

I'm all for trips down memory lane, but don't try to hype up a product that has being trying to ship for years and tout it as "better than MacOS"
