It's slower on my system too then 8.40 and XGL there are stutters in the frame rate that make it seem slower. When opening new windows the open animation will sometimes be liquid smooth and other times be choppy but at random and not just with the open animation... with the old driver and XGl it was always liquid smooth animations.
Firefox has some composite issues with this driver too. Also I notices the all my blur effects are missing.
