3D News, GL, DirectX Ati AMD has released a new version of its graphics drivers that fix some long overdue bugs. "Today it's now time where the fglrx driver reaches yet another milestone. Not only does today's release address many of the outstanding bugs for the earlier GPU generations while also introducing a few new features, but it also delivers AIGLX support! Yes, you read that right. You can finally run your ATI graphics card with the fglrx driver and run Compiz, Beryl, or Compiz Fusion without using XGL!"

What chipset do you have? This is for the R300 to R600 series of GPUs

Sorry, I forgot to mention that, it was an R500-series chip, the X1300 card. It is definitely a supported chipset, and I did get 3D acceleration from this driver. I did end up downgrading back to the stable 8.40.4 driver in the end because it just gave me much better results. I'm still hoping that the open source drivers can bear fruit within the next year or two.
