AmigaOS must have done something right because there are many OSes that are influenced by it.
These are: AROS, MorphOS, BeOS, AtheOS/Syllable
And maybe even SkyOS.
For those saying BeOS is dead. I'll say that BeOS will be reborn through HaikuOS ( once it gets done ). I use BeOS to this day and am impressed by it, a fast & light OS = high performance operating system. Same thing holds true for those OSes listed above.
MorphOS looks pretty cool too. I really would have liked to check it out but won't happen anytime soon because not interested in getting new hardware. Maybe someday. Sorry to say it, but OSes meant for x86 have a better shot at gaining a bigger market share ( ie: Haiku, SkyOS and maybe AROS ) then does MorphOS. I know it won't happen but I wish they'd port MorphOS to x86 also because it interests me.
Vista, OS X are bloated. Linux is getting bloated too. Windows XP runs pretty good but how long can a person continue using it ( feeling outdated )? The OSes I listed at the start are designed with performance as the main objective by being lean & quick. Some users want fast OSes and that is why they'll continue to use the operating systems I listed at the start.
