Yep, I agree with the whole content of your comment.
I use to be a GNOME fan, I left them with the spatial nautilus, and every time I try a new release I don't regret leaving them.
Looking the way GNOME and other DEs progress doesn't help too. That's too bad, cause some things are good in GNOME, like the menu which is perfect (easily readable). I really hope that GNOME will try to focus on speed, memory usage and functionnality, rather that having debates no one cares (like Mono vs Java vs python) and trying to reinvent the way of browsing (spatial nautilus).
