I agree that hardware support needs improvment. I guess my personal experence is not having any problems with Ubuntu 5.04 and 5.10 that I could not fix easily. I think the Linux needs to be more open to closed source drivers. I totally understand why the nVidia Driver is closed source, it makes since. If it was not ATI would benifit. Think they should simply ensure there is a good infrastructure for those drivers to hook into. Distros need to ship these drivers as well. I'm all for opensource all software but drivers. Closed source drivers make sense.
