ReactOS The ReactOS project has released version 0.3.5 of their ambitious operating system. ReactOS aims to be a "ground-up implementation of a Microsoft Windows XP compatible operating system. ReactOS aims to achieve complete binary compatibility with both applications and device drivers meant for NT and XP operating systems, by using a similar architecture and providing a complete and equivalent public interface." This new version comes packed with improvements.

Last I checked, Windows 2k/XP only ran on IA32 & x86_64: if you'd even bothered to glance at the changelog you'd see that ReactOS are a long way along in their work to port ReactOS to ARM, PPC and other architectures. That makes it instantly far more useful than XP is for a lot of applications, including the emerging light-weight PC & laptop markets, which can be made even cheaper if they use non-x86 CPUs.
