You are aware that nero provides a linux version of their encoder/decoder? just use that if you have problems with faac...

Guess what codec package I use on windows? ffdshow which is based on ffmpeg. On osx The first codec package that I installed was perian...which is again, (you guessed it!) based ffmpeg.

tell me again which codecs suck under linux?
