Linux InformationWeek is speculating on how Linux will change in the next four years. "By 2012 the OS will have matured into three basic usage models. Web-based apps rule, virtualization is a breeze, and command-line hacking for basic system configuration is a thing of the past."

"I haven't been following X.org development but atleast I am not aware of any serious bugs. I actually haven't met a single X.org related bug for a few years! So, care to tell me what are those "show stopper bugs" you mention?

" is coming more than 200 days late and it doesn't even clear the BugZilla release blocker bug"

"

You do realise that the blocker bug is not actually a show stopper. If it was a show stopper then it would be affecting a large number of people.

To quote phoronix
The two open bugs surround the XKB map setting and a server memory leak with DBUS.

Neither of those are actually serious if you read the bug reports.
