Dirac is an advanced royalty-free video compression format designed for a wide range of uses, from delivering low-resolution web content to broadcasting HD and beyond, to near-lossless studio editing. The v1.0.0 version was released yesterday, and the new VLC version supports playback of .ts/.drc Dirac files.

JrezIN's comment implies that Spielberg is a cinematographer. It appears that JrezIN didn't know that there is a dramatic difference between the job of a cinematographer and that of a producer/director.

In the indie world though, a director is usually the person for all jobs though.

I've been shooting independent films for about 16 years, and I have found that most productions (wisely) employ a separate DP.

For example, my online friend Blake shoots, directs and edits his work by himself.

It is very tough to direct and DP simultaneously -- both positions have to carefully monitor different aspects of the take while the camera is rolling.
