My family and I have used Windows since 95. We changed to Debian and Mac last year because of Vista issues. The learning curve is not high.
Being different is not a problem. Get the OS and hardware that do the job.
We really do not miss anything in Windows.
By the way, I still do not know which zone to set for my DVD-ROM. VLC player never asks such a silly question.
