Over the past couple of months, and especially over the past couple of weeks, I've been working very hard to write and complete my thesis. I performed all the work on Windows 7, but now that the thesis is finally done, submitted, and accepted, I installed Ubuntu - and immediately I was reminded of why I do not do any serious work on Linux: the train wreck that is X.org.

As long as X is used in any form that is close to what it is now, Linux, & the *BSD's are doomed to the current niche market!
OSX has shown that a UNIX can be used successfully on a consumer machine with a solid GUI. So it can be done!
I'm a FBSD geek and wish to hell that there was something else out there (besides OSX) that I could run my stuff on reliably while running UNIX! but I fear that that will never happen!
Until it does, I'll continue to use OSX! The only true option for a UNIX geek who is not an X geek!
Is there any other GUIs that can be used besides X? (I know its not OSS but how about BeOS's GUI or a OSS project to replicate it?... just a thought)
