I don't tend to use the scrollbar. I typically either scroll with the mouse wheel, use the up/down arrow keys, or middle click on the window to get the dot with the four arrows and move the mouse in the direction I want to scroll. The last scenario isn't supported by all applications, but it works in my web browser (Opera) and Microsoft Word.
Edit: Right after I posted this, I noticed that I used the vertical scrollbar to quickly take me to the top of the page. I guess I probably use it more than I realize. It just must be so automatic that I don't realize I do it.
