Hardware, Embedded Systems And yet another item on the iPad? Are we serious? Yes, we are, since this one is about something that even geeks who aren't interested in the iPad itself should find intriguing. Steve Jobs said yesterday that the iPad is powered by an Apple A4 processor, but contrary to what many seem to think - it wasn't designed in-house at all.

The article is misleading.

You are stating that Apple had nothing to do with the design of A4. In fact, Apple/PA Semi designed the architecture of the chip based on the licensed ARM cores.

This is no different then, say, the Snapdragon, which is also an ARM core based architecture.

To argue that people who architect chips based on licensed technology have nothing to do with the chips is just silly.
