Hardware, Embedded Systems And yet another item on the iPad? Are we serious? Yes, we are, since this one is about something that even geeks who aren't interested in the iPad itself should find intriguing. Steve Jobs said yesterday that the iPad is powered by an Apple A4 processor, but contrary to what many seem to think - it wasn't designed in-house at all.

PA Semi architects ARM devices...this isn't much of a stretch considering the A4 is indeed an ARM chipset.

It isn't much of a stretch and doesn't take much thought, which is what most people are doing--not thinking much. It makes almost no sense that a company as good at money as Apple are to throw away money by abandoning.

The company makes purchases and investments for good reason. They have some of the best financial people in any business. There is no good reason to believe that there isn't a PowerVR-derived GPU portion in the SoC.
