There are - even nowadays - alternative music companies that don't only concentrate on maximizing profits and turning everyything into disgusting commercial music video products, but actually see some value in supporting the artists and good music too. I don't know about you, and musical tastes are a very personal thing, of course, but when I browse Magnatune's music (there are many styles available, and you can actually listen to that music there before buying), most music there sounds many times better and more innovative and creative than the average music that the big music industry players push out of their factories and try to force us to listen to nowadays.
