As I understand it, if you choose to manually install the binary from Mozilla you can also set it to automatically check for future updates.
It sounds like your main concern boils down to the time it takes for the distros you've tried to provide updates. Different distros take different amounts of time.
I don't believe Mac / Windows have a centralised system for updating applications from 3rd party vendors. If you want the latest and greatest then you're free to install them yourself.
