BeOS & Derivatives Haiku is aiming at a tentative May 10 release for R1 Alpha 2. Ingo Weinhold, one of the recently contracted developers, is the acting release coordinator. Testing of nightly pre-release builds is encouraged.

Didn't know what "stack and tile" was all about, but it piqued my interest; http://www.cs.auckland.ac.nz/~lutteroth/videos/stack-and-tile.html

Great stuff! I hope there's more to come.
I've written my own tiler with "wmctrl" that can't do stuff that obviously needs to be implemented at a low level in the window manager, but it does give me some rudimentary tiling support anyway.
Free floating windows, without the ability to manage them in a slick fashion, is so '99. I wish "the big 4" dared to innovate a little bit more (looking at you OSX, Gnome, KDE, Windows).
