Mandriva, Mandrake, Lycoris If there's one Linux company that has seen lots of ups and downs it's the Paris-based Mandriva S.A. They have a great distribution, but as a company, they've always been on shaky grounds. First a rumour, now confirmed: the company has put itself up for sale - which, as the community points out, isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Redhat and Novell have don't intend make money from the Desktop. Redhat has even said it outright.

Ubuntu is the only one which focuses on desktop Linux. Secondly, your comments shouts ignorance. Ubuntu/Canonical *is* contributing.

Launchpad, desktopcouch, Software Center, Indicator Applet etc are contributions, Upstart. If other distros don't pick it up then it's not Ubuntu's fault.

Upstart has been adopted, Software Center and desktopcouch are going to make it's way into Debian properly. Keep a watch on ubuntu-dev list.
