Considering that they don't have anyone actually working on the development of the file system, it seems like that might not be the best idea for them. I don't think anyone else is using it as the default filesystem. If Ubuntu wants to be the stable linux distro, they really shouldn't do that. If they want to be the bleeding edge distro, that contributes significant patches to the upstream providers, then that would be a great idea to have it default.
