Same comments apply: either install and then select compiz for KDE instead of Kwin as the default Window manager (via the default applications in system settings), or use the proprietary nvidia driver.
I wish that the Kwin developer hadn't saddled KDE 4.5 and every single KDE distribution with this issue, but it has been done now and if you are affected then you will need to adopt one or other of the workarounds if you want to use KDE 4.5.
I repeat for those who are apparently having a bit of trouble following this: this is not a Kubuntu issue, it is a KDE issue, specifically with the Kwin window manager in KDE 4.5. Every distribution that ships KDE 4.5 will have the exact same issues.
