Ubuntu, Kubuntu, Xubuntu Finally. Finally the leader of a major distribution who has the guts to stand up and say what a lot of people have known for a long time, but didn't dare to say because it usually leads to a storm of criticism. Mark Shuttleworth has announced that Ubuntu will be moving away from, opting to go with Wayland instead.

"First off all, the title is very misleading.

It's not. Ubuntu is going with Wayland in a process that is going to cover the next four years, with the first test images appearing within a year. The headline is entirely accurate.

The headline in its present form can (and will) be interpreted as if the switch has already happened or will happen immediately.

To avoid such an (inevitable) interpretation by your readers, something along the lines of "Ubuntu to Ditch X, Switch to Wayland" would have been better, as it would have conveyed the fact that the change will take effect in the future in unmistakable terms.
