One thing I've been wondering about as I've gone desktop environment/window manager hopping is why, in the Gtk world we have a number of DEs and WMs, but in the Qt world, up until recently, there's been only KDE. Now, with Meego and Unity, we have options. This is a good thing, even though I have not seen anything interesting enough to convince me to move away from my Gtk-based desktop(s).
