Apple "Apple has released iOS 4.3 a few days ahead of schedule for iPhone 4 (GSM only) and 3GS, iPad, and 4th-generation iPod touch. The update, which comes via iTunes, brings with it the personal hotspot feature carried over from the Verizon (CDMA) iPhone, the ability to stream video and photos to an Apple TV via AirPlay, HD video out, and more."

The 3G is a 3 year old phone, which is actually running the same hardware as the original iPhone(4 years old), only difference being the 3G radio.

The cellphone industry is typically a 2 y life cycle with many ppl upgrading every year at special upgrade pricing.

Heck, a 3yr old desktop would be getting pretty long in the tooth, and your phone is technically running 4yr old hardware.
